2018 appears to be the year of grand weddings. Months after Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry tied the knot, and just weeks before Princess Eugenie’s nuptials to Jack Brooksbank, Saudi‘s Ameerah Al Taweel, the former wife of Prince Al Waleed bin Talal, wed Emirati entrepreneur Khalifa bin Butti al-Muhairi on September 9 in a secret ceremony just outside of Paris.

The lavish wedding took place at Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, a French residence located approximately 30 miles outside of Paris. It is the same venue where Eva Longoria said “I do” to her husband Tony Parker. The opulent ceremony was attended by a number of high-profile guests, dignitaries, Saudi elite, and celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey and American television personality Gayle King. Winfrey was also a guest at the May 19 royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at St. George’s Chapel. Though no photographs were allowed inside the wedding venue, Winfrey took to her Instagram to share videos and images from the evening, revealing that she chose an emerald ballgown for the occasion. It is suggested that the 34-year-old met the talk show host through her many philanthropic endeavors over the years.

Al Taweel tied the knot with Prince Al Waleed in 2005, before the two amicably split in 2013. The humanitarian is the vice-chairperson of charitable organization, Alwaleed Philanthropies. Meanwhile, Khalifa bin Butti Al Muhairi is a renowned businessman. The 39-year-old is known for being the chairman of KBBO Group, an Abu Dhabi-based group with investments in healthcare, money exchange, and retail.

Guests received invitations for the wedding early this summer, informing them that the couple would wed in Paris on October 9. “Khalifa bin Butti Al Muhairi and Ameerah Eidan bin Naif Al Taweel want to share their first day of their new life together in the city of love with their loved ones. We are hereby honored to invite you to join us and celebrate this magical occasion,” said the invite. It also featured a passage from The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, which read, “There is never a time or place for true love.”
