The countdown to the 92nd annual Academy Awards has begun, and so has the rise in anticipation to find out who will take home the coveted gold trophy. This year is a particularly thrilling one for the region as two Middle Eastern documentaries — Feras Fayyad’s The Cave and Waad al-Kateab’s For Sama — have been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category competing alongside Brazil’s Petra Costa’s The Edge of Democracy, Steven Bognar’s American Factory, and Ljubo Stefanov’s Honeyland. Middle Eastern representation at the Oscars doesn’t stop there, award-winning Egyptian-American actor Rami Malek will also be taking the stage to present an Oscar.
Needless to say, the Academy Awards’ red-carpet also sees celebrities from all around the world dressed in their finest threads, with some even making headlines with their sartorial choices. To save you from the fear of missing out on all this and more, OSN Movies will be broadcasting the Academy Awards live from Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. On February 10, the giant satellite provider will air all the action live and at the same time it airs in the USA.
Timings for the 92nd annual Academy Awards are 5:00am in the UAE, 4:00am in the Saudi Arabia and 3:00am in Egypt. In addition, Channel E! will bring its viewers all the glitz and glam directly from the red carpet on E!’s exclusive Live from the Red Carpet and Red Carpet Rundown from 2:00 am in the UAE, 1:00am in the KSA, and 12:00am in Egypt.
