Vogue Reviews: The Mandarin Oriental in Paris

Where: Mandarin Oriental, 251 Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France

The Lowdown: A few steps away from the Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde, and Paris’s haute couture street, the Mandarin Oriental is an ideal location for shoppers, tourists, and culture enthusiasts. The hotel reflects the elegance of Parisian interiors and ignites the vibe of the city through their contemporary design.

Stylish Eats: The Mandarin Oriental’s restaurants are head by the award-winning French chef, Thierry Marx. The culinary director’s signature restaurant, Sur Mesure, has been awarded two Michelin stars. If you are on the lookout for an immersive sensory experience, Chef Marx combines cooking with sound, sight, and taste at the restaurant. On the ground floor, guests can dine outdoors in the beautifully landscaped garden of Camélia, an all-day French restaurant. After lunch or dinner, visitors can head to the Cake Shop for themed desserts, pastries, and cookies. Make sure to try the “Le Saint-Honoré,” a puff pastry with creampuff, salted butter caramel, and whipped cream.

Suite Talk: The Mandarin Oriental is equipped with 135 guest rooms, and is one of the few 5-star hotels in the area to offer spacious suites. Most of their rooms include panoramic views of the Rue Saint-Honoré street, while some suites include private terraces that overlook the courtyard garden. The Royal Mandarin Suite offers a 360° view of the Montmartre, the Garnier Opera, the Grand Palais, the Louvre as well as the Eiffel Tower.

What Not to Miss in 2019: The Mandarin Oriental will reveal their new 4,600 square feet luxurious suite, the Appartement Parisian, set to replace the 6th floor with four bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, and a 2,475 square feet private terrace. The suite is designed by Gilles & Boissier, while the suite terrace is designed by Gautrand & Associés. Appartement Parisian is commissioned to reflect the modern Parisian lifestyle, with elements from Art Deco and Haussmannian interiors. This one giant suite would make summer of 2019 the best time to visit the Mandarin.

Insider’s Tip: The 5-star hotel is family-friendly and caters to the needs of children. Upon request, the hotel is able to provide popcorn machines, DVDs, crayons, and video games to entertain kids. There is also a specialized Kids’ Ambassador and Kid’s Concierge.

Vogue Verdict: For those who live and breathe food and fashion, the Mandarin Oriental is the most convenient and luxe location to book for your next holiday.
