Vogue Reviews: Kingfisher Lodge in Sharjah

Kingfisher Lodge

Where: Kingfisher Lodge, Corniche Road, Sharjah

The Lowdown: Located on the wetland of Khor Kalba on the east coast of Sharjah, the Kingfisher Lodge brilliantly melds together the tranquility of nature, the prestige of the interior design and dedicated hospitality. Home to the UAE’s eldest mangroves, pristine beaches and sand beautiful dunes, guests can seek rare species only available at the Kingfisher – notably the Arabian Collared Kingfisher. Guests can also enjoy lazy mornings-in in style with small boats that will transport them from one place to another and hosts, or experienced private guides, that will serve them by request. Guests can even spot wildlife from the luxury of their own luxury tent – perfect if you ever wanted your own island.

Stylish Eats: Your cravings are constantly catered to with glamorous buffets and an impressive a-la-carte menu, available by request. From fresh fruits and juices to decadent seafood platters served to guests by their hosts on a private deck. It might be a tent but it feels like a five-star dinning experience.

Suite Talk: In all its glamping glory, the tent-style rooms are designed in hues of soft beiges browns, and blues to perfectly emulate the natural exterior. Each room is equipped with free toiletries, a seating area, a flat-screen TV, and free WiFi (not that you’ll be needing it much here, anyway). The rooms really take advantage of the surrounding nature, boasting either incredible mountain or sea views.

Insiders Tip: Watch out for the gazelles that may pass by on the way back to your tent.

Kingfisher Lodge

Vogue Verdict: Ideal for an adventurous couples’ retreat.
