UAE‘s journey into space is set to be chronicled in a four-part documentary series by National Geographic. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has partnered with National Geographic to showcase the development as well as the accomplishments of the Emirati space industry.

The documentary will focus on milestones like the launch of the KhalifaSat, the first Emirati-developed satellite and the Emirates Mars Mission, which is the first Arab mission to Mars, set to launch in 2020. In addition, it will also cover the country’s plans to establish a city on Mars by 2117 through the Mars 2117 Strategy.

It will also bring to light challenges like climate change, declining natural resources and food security facing the Earth and how Emirati space travel can assist with them.

“Our fascination with space goes back over 100 years and we have been passionate about bringing stories of new frontiers of exploration to audiences around the world since then,” said Sanjay Raina, senior vice president of Fox Networks Group and general manager for Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan.

“What is equally important in this massive undertaking by MBRSC is its goal: to create sustainable solutions to our global resource and environmental challenges and provide an international platform for knowledge sharing and development,”he added.
