All of UAE will once again come alive with the nationwide celebrations for the 52nd Union Day this weekend. Read on for all the various festivities residents can partake in.
Dubai
Expo City
Official Union Day celebrations will be held at Expo City, which is currently hosting the landmark Cop28 climate conference. It will feature “innovative technologies and breathtaking projections,” while also honoring the country’s rich heritage through various elements of traditional Sadu weaving. The ceremony on December 2 will be broadcast live on local TV channels, as well as a new dedicated website, Unionday.ae. Visitors will also be able to personally partake in the festivities from December 5 to 12 as the show opens to the public. The 30-minute show will kick off everyday at 6pm at Jubilee Park, with tickets priced at AED 300.
Global Village
This year, the popular family destination will be unveiling a new show in celebration of Union Day. From December 1 to 3, the act titled ‘UAE’s Vision’ will take visitors on a musical journey through the UAE’s history and culture. The 30-minute show will take place daily over the long weekend at Global Village’s Main Stage.
Abu Dhabi
Yas Bay
The popular waterfront leisure and entertainment spot is hosting a fireworks show on December 2 and 3, at 9pm. Visitors can view the colorful fireworks show by either walking along the promenade or taking a seat at one of the many restaurants and lounges that line Yas Bay.
Sheikh Zayed Festival
The annual Sheikh Zayed Festival returns on November 17 with fun activities in store for families until March 9, 2024. On National Day, the festival at Al Wathba will host a Union Parade alongside special shows and performances at the Heritage Village and international pavilions, folk art shows, military musical performances, as well as firework and drone displays.
Al Maryah Island
The picturesque Al Maryah Island is inviting residents to celebrate National Day via two firework displays that will take place on December 2 and 3. Visitors can also take a seat at one of the restaurants at The Galleria Al Maryah Island for the best views of the show.
Sharjah
While Union Day celebrations have been ongoing in Sharjah since November, the big event will be held at Sharjah National Park from November 28 to December 3. Expect theatrical shows, workshops, interactive competitions, and more fun-filled activities for families also taking place across Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan, Al Bataeh region, Kalba, Heritage Village.
