From the endless binging of TV shows and movies, it is fair to say that Netflix became part of most of our daily routines during lockdown. Yet, because of the price hikes the company has introduced in the last couple of years, not everyone is willing to pay for the subscription-based streaming service. However, Netflix has now announced that it will be offering many of its popular Netflix Original films and television shows to be watched for free.

UAE residents will now be able to access a variety of Netflix Original content without having to pay for a subscription, or sign-up with an email address. Many of the streaming service’s popular shows, such as Stranger Things, When They See Us, Narcos, and more are part of Netflix’s new, free streaming option. Many Netflix Original films such as Murder Mystery and Bird Box will also be included in the offer.

Residents can watch Netflix on their preferred devices, whether that be laptops, computers, tablets, or TVs, with much of its content available to download to stream without an internet connection. Unfortunately, the offer does not provide unlimited access to Netflix’s full list of content. To get access to Netflix’s full catalog, UAE residents will still need to sign-up to the streaming service and pay the subscription fee, ranging between AED 29 – AED 56, per month.

Netflix Original context refers to content curated, developed, and streamed exclusively by the company. Netflix started developing its original content in 2012 and has since produced over 1,500 titles of either film, television shows, and documentaries. Several of these Netflix Originals have received critical acclaim, like crime-drama show Mindhunter, comedy-drama show Glow, and Oscar-nominated film The Irishman. Netflix has also received high praise for many of its documentary-series and films.
