In great news for early planners, the UAE government has revealed the public holiday calendar for 2025, for both, private and public sectors.
As UAE residents anticipate the long weekend of Eid Al-Adha 2024, the government has announced the full public holiday calendar for 2025. The dates for the next year were released in the official UAE Gazette, which details the holidays for the country’s public as well as private sector employees. As is the case every year, the official days for most Islamic occasions will only be confirmed close to the date of the moon sighting, however, the calendar offers enough information to plan holidays tentatively.
Below, see all dates on the 2025 public holiday calendar for the UAE
January 1, 2025: New Year’s Day
Ramadan 29/30-Shawaal 3: Eid Al-Fitr. While these are the dates on the Islamic calendar, the corresponding days on the Gregorian calendar will only be determined closer to the festival, according to the moon sighting.
Dhu Al Hijjah 9: Arafat Day
Dhu Al Hijjah 10-12: Eid Al Adha. Similar to Eid Al-Adha
Muharram 1: Islamic New Year
Rabi Al Awwal 12: Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday. The Gregorian calendar date for the occasion will also be confirmed closer to the day.
December 2-3: UAE National Day. Previously observed on November 30, Commemoration Day will be marked on December 3, following the UAE Union Day (formerly UAE National Day) on December 2.
Alongside the public holidays for 2025, the UAE Gazette stated that with the exception of Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, the cabinet reserves the right to transfer public holidays to the beginning or end of the week. Another federal resolution states that, “local governments may approve any other official holidays not mentioned in this resolution for their government departments and institutions on special occasions or for any other reason.”
