UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. He was 73 years old. “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nation and the world over the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE,” an official statement read.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has stated that there will be forty days of official mourning in honor of the royal, with flags at half mast. Along with this, ministries and official entities at the federal and local levels and the private sector will be closed for the next three days, starting today, Friday, May 13.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan played the role of the president of the UAE for 18 years, starting his journey on November 3, 2004. He was the oldest son of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His death will be mourned by the nation, and he will be remembered by all for years to come.
