Sheikh Mohammed has noted several new projects, set to launch next year in 2021, that will catapult the progress of the country’s business and trade environment. In particular, His Highness mentioned the country’s plan to end this year on a high, as the UAE prepares to host the 2020 edition of the Gitex technology exhibition.
“Gitex will be the most important and realistic global technical event in 2020 and the UAE will be the fastest country to recover in the world,” said Sheikh Mohammed, in an announcement on Twitter. “Our institutions have proven their ability to adapt. We will conclude 2020 with a global event and we will start 2021 with a series of projects and major initiatives. [Next year is] our 50th anniversary and our golden jubilee, and it will be different from all years,” he added.
The technology-focused event begins today, December 6, and will be held until Thursday, December 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Gitex 2020 is one of the first significant events taking place in Dubai which visitors can physically attend, under strict safety regulations and social distancing measures. “[The event will have] the participation of 200 important technology investment companies and 350 speakers in artificial intelligence, smart cities, financial technology, the future of education and health, and the future of remote work,” Sheikh Mohammed said. The 40th edition of the exhibition will see over 1,200 companies from 60 countries presenting the latest technological advancements from leading industry innovators to global investors over the week.
