Ahead of the royal tour in October, here is what we know so far about the Duke and Duchess’s first official overseas visit.

It has been a whirlwind summer of appointments and events for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since their nuptials at Windsor Castle in May but, five months after their wedding, the royal newlyweds will embark on their first major official overseas tour together this October. Visiting four countries in 16 days, here are the details of the royal tour released so far.

Where

The official visit will take the Duke and Duchess to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand. “Their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit the Commonwealth Realms of Australia and New Zealand by the countries’ respective governments. The Duke and Duchess will visit Fiji and Tonga at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,” said Kensington Palace of the tour.

“The program across these four Commonwealth counties will focus on youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts — including the dedication of several new Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy projects — and the recovery and rehabilitation of servicemen and woman through the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.”

When

The trip will take place between Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 31 October, with the couple flying into Sydney before visiting Dubbo and Melbourne then returning to Sydney in time for the Invictus Games, which begins on October 20. They depart for Fiji on October 23 where they will spend two days before traveling to Tonga. The tour will culminate with four days in New Zealand, with a whistle-stop visit to Wellington, Auckland and Rotorua.
