Inside the Duchess of Sussex’s Whirlwind Trip to Toronto

It’s been a jet-setting summer for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who has reportedly been everywhere from the Cotswolds to George and Amal Clooney’s house in Lake Como. Now, according to Good Morning America, she can check off one more place from her summer travel list: Toronto.

Before her official royal duties—including a tour to Australia and New Zealand—kick off in earnest this fall, Meghan paid a quick trip to the Canadian city. It’s familiar ground for her—she lived there for several years while filming her TV series Suits.

It was a low-key trip for Markle, who is said to have spent most of her time in the company of good friend Jessica Mulroney and her family. Mulroney’s children, Ivy, Brian, and John, were all in the duchess’s May 19 wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle. It’s said that they “love seeing their Auntie Meg.”

Also on the itinerary? Lounging at the Mulroney’s pool and having a quiet night out on the town. The spot is unknown, but when she lived in Toronto, Markle was known to frequent The Chase and Terroni. (The latter’s chili offerings are a particular favorite. “They’re really hot, but if you’re good with heat, then I think they’re going to be your new favorite thing,” Markle told a Vanity Fair reporter last year.)

As of last week, however, she was back to making royal appearances in London, attending a charity performance of Hamilton. But, with her next event not scheduled until Tuesday, perhaps she has time to make one weekend getaway—maybe even with a furry friend in tow.
