The Best Instagrams From International Women’s Day 2019

March 8 marked International Women’s Day, an entire day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and advancing gender parity. Over the weekend, a handful of local stars and It girls took to Instagram to celebrate the occasion. From Lebanese filmmaker and activist Nadine Labaki to Fashion 4 Development ambassador Afef Jnifen, we round up the best celebrity Instagrams from International Women’s Day 2019 below.

Karen Wazen B shared an image of herself and her twin daughters Karlie and Kay recreating the famous “We Can Do It!” poster with Rosie the Riveter.

Saudi womenswear designer Arwa Al Banawi shared a thoughtful message addressed to ‘#TheSuitableWoman’. “You’re that voice in the back of every women’s head. That voice that says ‘you’re better than this, believe in yourself, fight for it and make it happen, and trust your gut’. Five years ago I took a risk and I trusted that voice in the back of my head,” she wrote alongside an image of herself. “Happy International Women’s day! There is nothing a woman can’t do,” she concluded the post.

Nadine Labaki posted an image of herself sporting Sarah’s Bag “Who Runs the World?” crest on the lapel of her blazer. The post was a tribute to “Those who made it, and those who didn’t make it, those who achieved, and those who are still waiting to achieve.” She went on to thank Sarah’s Bag for creating the initiative. “I will wear this badge with pride today and every day,” she wrote.

Lana El Sahely posted a heart-warming video of her son Zayd, watching a video of his mom singing Rita Ora’s Let You Love Me on repeat while she was away during Paris Fashion Week. “Definitely the hardest part of every work trip, it hurts so much,” she wrote. “But then everything I do, I do it for you. Thank you for making me the best version of myself. Happy Women’s Day to every single one of you out there, you rock”.

Dubai-based Palestinian Vlogger Haifa Beseisso posted a clip from her empowering “The Middle East Speak Up” music video, which she released in November. “Happy international women’s day to all the women out there,” she captioned the snippet. “I salute us for every single thing. Being a woman in its own is a gift.”

Tunisian model and former Vogue Arabia cover star Afef Jnifen shared a quote, in which she once stated “As women, we need to have the confidence to celebrate each phase of our lives and know that we are vital at any age. That is something incredibly empowering”.
