Taylor Swift on Being Named Spotify’s Most-Streamed Artist of 2023

It’s that time of the year when both, artists and music listeners receive the much-anticipated statistics from streaming platform Spotify. While users have Spotify Wrapped to analyze and share, musicians are also told how much their work has been streamed over the year. The one artist at the top of this list? Taylor Swift.

Unsurprisingly, the singer, who has had a remarkable year when it comes to her albums and world tour, has been named the most streamed artist of the of 2023 by Spotify. With more than 26.1 billion streams since January 1, the Grammy-winner has ended a three-year streak by Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny. According to the platform, The Weeknd, Drake, and Mexican artist Peso Pluma are also among the top five.

Following the announcement, Swift took to her social media to share her reaction to the news. “Um OK this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me.”

Swift went on to thank her loyal fans by treating them to a long-awaited version of one of her tracks: “We’ve seriously had the most fun this year out there on tour and now this. Are you serious. So I was trying to think of a way to thank you, and a lot of you have been asking me to put You’re Losing Me (From The Vault) on streaming … so here you go! You can finally listen everywhere now.”

Spotify also released the top songs streamed globally, which include Flowers by Miley Cyrus at the number one position, followed by SZA’s Kill BillAs It Was by Harry Styles, Seven by Jung Kook featuring Latto, and Ella Baila Sola by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma.
