Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak on Mother’s Day: “Mothers are the backbone of nations”

On occasion of Mother’s Day, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation has paid tribute to women all over the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the world, expressing her pride in women who make sacrifices for their families and their children.

In a statement, she said, “I have always believed that mothers are the backbone of nations. Inside every mother is a nation full of love and authenticity.” She added, “A mother is a main equation and basis of any family, as she is the foundation of creating social cohesion, a mother is powerful for her role as she leads, teaches and creates a family, our mothers help shape us.”

Her statement honed in on the idea that mothers impart values to their children and set examples by executing both, national and familial responsibilities with dedication and sincere patriotism.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also took to Twitter to express his appreciation for mothers. In celebration of mothers, the crown prince says, “Mothers symbolise goodness and giving. They anchor families and raise heroes. The values and morals they instill in their children influence generations to come. On Mother’s Day and every day, we reaffirm our love and gratitude towards them and praying for their everlasting wellbeing and happiness.”

In the Arab world, Mother’s Day falls in March 21. The holiday first originated in Egypt in 1956 by Mustafa Amin, who saw the commencement of spring, March 21, as the perfect day to celebrate mothers, and ever since, this day has been seen as an annual day of celebration.
