HH Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Founder of the Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundation, has announced the Fatima bint Hazza Academic Scholarship Fund, which aims to empower Emirati women in their pursuit of higher education.
Under the fund, 10 highly illuminated women from various fields such as, banking, education, economics and international relations will be granted a scholarship to obtain a degree in International Business Law from the Panthéon-Assas University Paris II, partner of the fund.
The fund was created with the goal of encouraging Emirati women to follow their higher educational endeavors and make strides in academics. Its selection criteria will include Emirati women from various educational backgrounds, with a special focus on innovation and academic excellence. Beneficiaries of the scholarship will gain the opportunity to study law in Europe, under the tutelage of some of the French universities’ best educational experts.
Announcing the initiative HH Sheikha Fatima said, “As we celebrate our beloved country’s golden jubilee, we continue the vision of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, to invest in women’s talents, empower them in the field of education, and continue developing and strengthening our economy based on knowledge.” She added that education is the cornerstone of UAE’s growth.
Having founded and chaired many organizations such as the Fatima bint Mubarak Sports Academy, the Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundation the Abu Dhabi and Al Al-Ain Ladies Club, and the Al Shira’aa Stables, Her Highness is a pioneer in many arenas in the country. The royal, who featured on Vogue Arabia’s April 2021 cover, is a passionate advocate for women empowerment. “Actions speak louder than words. In the UAE we have massive female representation everywhere. In government and ministries, technology, science, arts, culture… Women are reaching world records and revealing the true forte of our nation,” she tells Vogue Arabia.
