HH Sheikh Mohammed Shared an Inspiring Message on Emirati Women’s Day

Marking the fifth year of the Emirati Women’s Day today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai shared an inspiring message on his social media accounts to celebrate the accomplishments of women in the UAE.

In 2015, August 28 was chosen as Emirati Women’s Day by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. This year’s theme ‘Women, Icons of Tolerance’ and has gained immense recognition from all over the world.

The Ruler of Dubai shared a video to expressing gratitude to all women in the UAE. He believes women are the epitome of strength and hold the nation together. “On Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28 of each year, we celebrate mothers, sisters, wives and daughters,” wrote Sheikh Mohammed. In the video, he described women as role models and that they “elevate the rank of the nation.”

The UAE embassy in Washington DC has also taken part in the celebration and posted a video on August 24, stressing on the importance of women and the vital role they play in the society. The video featured Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of International Participants at Expo 2020. “When we look at the workforce at Expo 2020, it’s more than 50 per cent women,” explained Al Gargawi.

Alongside the UAE embassies in the US, Emirates Airline also uploaded a clip to mark Emirati Women’s Day showcasing five intelligent local Arab women as first officers, who are flying to five continents daily. “Emirati women are icons of tolerance, exemplifying the core values held by our community via their care, determination, ability to nurture future generations, and pursue success in their various fields of work. Their hard work and talent have helped build our company and nation, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all Emirati women for setting new benchmarks and continuing to make us proud,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group.
