The return of the Dubai Fitness Challenge is nearly upon us, and founder HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is encouraging residents to take part in the socially distanced challenge.

In a recent video which was uploaded on Twitter, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai,  Sheikh Hamdan said, “My challenge to you…30 minutes of activity for 30 days wherever you are..whenever you can…make a change…take the challenge from 30 October – 28 November 2020.” The video features a montage of many individuals, of all ages taking part in various sporting activities, including watersports, football and boxing, across Dubai.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge is returning for its fourth year, since being initiated by Sheikh Hamdan in 2017. It aims to encourage 30 minutes of physical per day, for 30 days, with the goal of energizing the community to maintain healthier and more active lifestyles. This year’s challenge will be slightly different than previous years due to social distancing regulations and impacts resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. However, there is still a plethora of activities, challenges and wellness events to partake in, both in person and virtually.

Ahead of the challenge Sheikh Hamdan, also known as Fazza, said: “The return of Dubai Fitness Challenge is a testament to the emirate’s resilience and its commitment to rebuild a stronger and happier society by embracing the benefits of fitness and wellness habits. When we create the right habits and make them a part of our lives, we have the opportunity to truly transform ourselves.” He added: “Dubai is a city that recognizes the importance of physical, mental and social wellbeing, and constantly strives to provide everyone opportunities for an active lifestyle. All it takes for you to succeed is an unyielding pledge to enjoy 30 minutes of activity for 30 days. I challenge each and every one of you to embrace your fitness journey and make a difference in your life. Together, let’s make the UAE the most active country in the world.”

The Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020 takes off on October 30 and will run for 30 days until November 28.
