Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host yet another music festival. As part of Sharqiah Season, two weeks of non-stop entertainment, the Kingdom will play host to a score of international acts set to perform at Saudi’s Eastern Province. Next weekend, Dammam will see some of the world’s biggest musical acts taking to the stage of the capital city’s Life Park between March 21 and 22.
Artists who will be performing live as part of the Asharqiah Music Festival include American rapper Pitbull and Canadian DJ Deadmau5, who will perform some of their biggest hits for day one of the two-day event. Other headliners include Lonely hitmaker Akon, Moroccan rapper French Montana, and Egyptian pop sensation Amr Diab, who will take to Life Park’s stage the next day.
The Asharqiah Music Festival is only one of almost a hundred events planned throughout the Gulf country’s Eastern Province for the duration of Sharqiah Season, which kicks off on March 14 until 30. Guests can look forward to a series of different sporting events in addition to musical acts in more than four locations, including Alkhobar, Jubail, and Al-Ahsa.
The idea of a concert in Saudi Arabia was unimaginable just one year ago. But thanks to the loosening of restrictions on leisure activities by the Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, several concerts have been held in the conservative Gulf country in the past few months. In December, Saudi Arabia saw some of the world’s biggest musical acts take to the stage of Ad Diriyah’s UNESCO Heritage site as part of the inaugural Saudi Ad Diriyah E-Prix. Artists who performed live at the Middle Eastern debut of the E-Prix included Enrique Iglesias, One Republic, Jason Derulo, the Black Eyed Peas, and David Guetta. Just weeks later, a drove of superstar singers, including Mariah Carey descended upon the Saudi city to perform their biggest hits as part of the country’s first-ever international golf tournament in Jeddah. Meanwhile, the Winter at Tantora Festival, which recently wrapped up, featured musical performances from some of the world’s greatest artists.
