The canal will not only boast enchanting promenades but also house a plethora of upscale homes — enough to house more than 130,000 people — and commercial districts. The scale of the waterfront, akin to the likes of Chicago, Hamburg, and Central London, makes it an ambitious project for the country.
Transportation is set to take on a exciting twist with the introduction of water taxis, ferrying passengers along the waterway. An added feature lies in the direct canal link to the King Abdulaziz International Airport, bound to benefit travelers immensely.
The horseshoe-shaped marvel will also connect to Obhur Creek, which flows into the Red Sea. It will also be positioned in close proximity to the upcoming Jeddah Tower.
While the exact cost and completion date of the canal are yet to be announced, it already counts itself among on of the many mega projects on Saudi Arabia’s roster for the coming years.
