Britney Spears‘s fiancé, Sam Asghari, gave a rare interview, in which the actor talked about the engagement ring he got for Spears, as well as her recent miscarriage, which the couple announced in May after revealing her pregnancy in April.
At first, Asghari was hesitant to discuss the miscarriage, but opened up after sharing how much he’s always wanted to be a father.
“We’re positive about it,” he said, referring to the loss. “It’s something that happens to a lot of people. And one beautiful thing that I heard was when the baby’s ready, it’ll come… It’s a common process and the female body is just so amazing, and just the human body in general is so beautiful that it heals itself.”
He added, “When the baby’s ready, it’ll be the right time.”
Earlier in the interview Sam Asghari spoke about proposing to Spears and, more specifically, the process of selecting her engagement ring.
“I figured with her taste, she wouldn’t want something super big and super celebrity,” Asgahri said. “Celebrities get that million-dollar ring. And usually, it’s free because it’s for promotion, but I want it to represent something.”
“I want it to come from my heart and I want it to go to someone that wasn’t a big jeweler,” he continued. In the end, he chose Roman Malayev of Forever Diamonds NY to make the ring, noting that the company was “willing to do it the way that I wanted it.” The couple announced their engagement publicly on September 12, 2021. The couple have not revealed any details about their wedding.
Asghari also told GQ that he had Brit’s ring engraved on the inside with the word lioness, which is his nickname for her.
“It came to me because I always figured the lion is lazy. The male lion has always been the symbol of the king of the jungle,” he said. “But it’s not true, it’s really the female and she’s very strong and she was very independent. And lioness was a beautiful name that just came to me out of nowhere. So it’s kind of a nickname, but I don’t call her that every day. It was kind of like a symbol.”
