It’s been reported that Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle won’t be attending the royal wedding on May 19th as he’s reportedly going into heart surgery after experiencing chest pain. Kensington Palace said in a statement: “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.” The news that he won’t be walking his daughter down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, comes after recent allegations that the former lighting director was staging paparazzi pictures.

This week, reports in the London Times and The Mail on Sunday said that Markle was staging and getting paid for the portraits— Including those of him reading a book called Images of Britain: A Pictorial Journey Through History and being fitted for a suit. Coincidentally, the images were all captured by the same Los Angeles-based agency, Coleman-Rayner. The Daily Mail even published footage of Markle cooperating with photographers.

On Monday, Markle admitted to the whole ordeal in a report published by TMZ. “Thomas says the paparazzi agency approached him, offered him money . . . and he figured there was no harm in it and it would help recast his image. He admits the pics look ‘stupid and hammy.’ He says he was just going along with the paparazzi agency, which he now deeply regrets,” wrote TMZ. The TMZ report came just hours after Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Grant tweeted that the paparazzi photos were “her fault”. “The media was unfairly making him look bad so I suggested he do positive photos for his benefit and the benefit of the royal family. We had no idea he would be taken advantage of. It was not for money,” she wrote on her personal Twitter account. As of now, the Kensington Palace hasn’t confirmed any details.

Update: On Thursday, Kensington Palace issued a statement from Meghan Markle confirming that her father won’t attend the wedding.”Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday,” she said.

Who else isn’t attending

Other guests that won’t be present at the wedding include Markle’s older half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Markle. Theresa May, Barack and Michelle Obama as well as Donald and Melania Trump will not be attending the nuptials either. Kensington Palace issued a statement saying that no politicians would be invited to the May 19 wedding at Windsor Castle, not even Prime Minister Theresa May of Britain. “It has been decided that an official list of political leaders — both U.K. and international — is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding. Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household.”

Rihanna, who met Prince Harry in Barbados in 2016 was asked in an interview with Access Hollywood whether she would be attending the royal wedding, to which she promptly responded “Why would you think I’m invited? You met me, you think you’re coming to my wedding? Am I coming to yours?”

Lady Amelia of Windsor, the Prince’s cousin, was not invited to the wedding either. Surprisingly, the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry’s ex Chelsy Davy were left off the invite list too.

Who is attending

In March, Kensington Palace announced that there will be a tight guest list with only 600 people anticipated to attend. Among them is Prince Harry’s older brother and best man, Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Queen Elizabeth II, and all three of Princess Diana’s siblings, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer will be at the wedding. Markle’s best friend and stylist (who chose Markle’s engagement outfit), Jessica Mulroney will also be present.

Today, Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte will be the bridesmaid alongside the goddaughter of Prince Harry, the goddaughter of Meghan Markle, and the four-year-old daughter of Mulroney. Prince George will be the page boy, alongside Prince Harry’s godson and Mulroney’s twin boys. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s newborn, Prince Louis, won’t be at the ceremony.

Though Markle won’t have a maid of honor, her mother Doria Ragland and close friend Priyanka Chopra will be in attendance. It’s still unclear whether tennis superstar Serena Williams will be at the wedding. “I don’t know, I think it’s during one of the tournaments, so we’ll see if I can make it,” she told Good Morning America. However, Williams pulled out of the Italian Open in Rome on May 15, which leaves her free to attend the nuptials.

Who is maybe attending

Other A-listers and celebrities who are rumored to attend the royal ceremony on Saturday include George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, and all five members of beloved girl group the Spice Girls.

Markle’s Suits co-stars Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Abigail Spencer and Patrick J. Adams are all expected to attend the ceremony.

Elton John, who was a close friend of the late Princess Diana— he performed at her funeral 20-years-ago, is also confirmed to attend. The singer was among the guests at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011. Additionally, John cancelled two Las Vegas shows on the same May weekend as the Royal nuptials, clearing his schedule for Saturday.
