The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, a boy whose name is yet to be revealed, on Monday. A statement by the Kensington Palace revealed that the newborn was safely delivered at 11:01 am and weighed 8lb and 7oz. Mere hours after giving birth, Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William stepped outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London to take their first official portrait with the new addition to their family.
Middleton chose to wear a red, Jenny Packham frock with a lace collar to introduce the new prince to the public, recalling the outfit the late Princess Diana chose to wear when she presented Prince Harry to the public 34-years-ago. Similarly, when she gave birth to Prince George in 2013, Middleton wore a blue polka-dot Jenny Packham dress, which invoked the same print that Princess Diana donned to present William to the world in 1982.
Packham, who is a favorite of Middleton’s, also designed her last two post-birth ensembles. The royal completed the outfit with a pair of nude, Gianvito Rossi pumps.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed for photographs with their new son for several minutes before re-entering the Lindo Wing to grab the baby’s car seat before driving off to the Kensington Palace.
