Over the weekend, music’s bad gal Rihanna took on the role of a bridesmaid for her longtime friend Sonia Alexander’s nuptials. Sporting a navy gown and a matching slick of royal blue eyeliner on her waterline, the popstar jetted off to her native Barbados to stand by her best friend, whom she has known since secondary school. Rihanna took to her Instagram stories to share a now-deleted photo before her BFF walked down the aisle, showing off her and Alexander’s matching bridesmaid and bride robes. To caption the moment, the Wild Thoughts singer hashtagged “#walkingintoforever”.
The singer took her role very seriously, making sure to blend in with the rest of the bridal party (and even standing in the back of some photographs) to make sure that the attention stayed on the bride. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time that the bad gal takes on the role of the bride’s right-hand woman. In 2015, Rihanna flew to Hawaii to celebrate the nuptials of her best friend Jennifer Rosales, where she served as one of the ten bridesmaids.
Rihanna joins a long list of celebrities who made appearances at the weddings of their longtime friends, including Amy Schumer who was a bridesmaid at the wedding of her friends Tara Alana and Rusty Fitton. Notably, Taylor Swift served as the maid of honor at her childhood best friend Britany Maack’s nuptials; and Lady Gaga joined her best friend in New Orleans for her March 2015 wedding.
