F.R.N.D.S Grand Cafe

Inspired by the golden era of Art Deco, the newly opened F.R.N.D.S Grand Cafe seems to be dripping in opulence at the prestigious Address Fountain Views. Elements such as a striking five-meter-tall “bas-relief” carving crafted by world-renowned Portuguese artist VHILS or the glass-enclosed private dining room make this a must-visit venue. Matching the elegance of the ambiance is an extensive menu offering Japanese and Mediterranean flavors. Two renowned chefs helm the kitchen bringing dishes such as Beef Rossini, Maguro Tataki Gomadare, and a flavoursome Tempura Duck Sando amongst a number of other items. An outdoor terrace with shisha service transports diners to the classic cafes lining the iconic Champs-Élysées.

In the heart of DIFC, Alaya serves an appetizing lunch menu suitable for every palate, from the one craving something a little light or refreshing to the one that always goes for a punch of spice. Delightful mezze dishes such as the zesty green harissa prawns or the cheese borek, crowned with fresh truffle shavings provide the perfect option for sharing. An indulgent start to your meal is provided by flavorsome smaller bites including the spiced carrot salad. For the main event of the day, guests can choose from a selection of meat, poultry, seafood, and pasta options – a juicy shish wagyu and the shish chicken are crowd-pleasers while the salt crust turbot is a seafood gourmand’s dream. The meal ends on a sweet note with options such as mochikan chocolate with vanilla ice cream or pistachio ice cream adorned with pomegranate jewels.

Recently listed in Dubai’s Michelin Guide 2023, Jun’s is arguably one of the top culinary venues in the city and has now launched a specially curated tasting menu comprising chef Kelvin Cheung’s most loved dishes. Filled with the exotic flavors and pioneering concepts that the restaurant is known for, the menu is available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. In this daring culinary concept there are no borders when it comes to cuisine for Chung it is all about third-culture cooking. With a story behind every dish, the chef offers guests a chance to diversify their pallets whilst indulging in rich flavors from across continents. Items such as lobster pain puri, tempura za’atar chaat, miso toothfish congee kichdi, or the spinach saag dip make this a gourmet experience unlike any other you have ever had.

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

The crowning jewel of Dubai’s newest hotspot, Atlantis the Royal, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal beautifully spotlights the best flavors and techniques the Michelin-star chef has to offer. Tucked away in a cozy corner of the lavish hotel, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal creates an indulgent world for gastronomes, offering up a menu that honors British dishes that date back to the 1300s. Served in the form of an unassuming mandarin, unraveling to reveal a hearty liver parfait, the world-renowned meat fruit serves as a delightful play on the senses while Blumenthal’s tipsy cake stands out for its rich flavors and accompanying spit-roast pineapple. Other noteworthy heroes include Heston’s hay-smoked salmon (circa 1730), roast halibut and green sauce (circa 1440), and powdered duck breast (circa 1846). Make sure to end your evening with an experience of the nitrogen hand-churned ice cream, served with a range of toppings.

While this is not necessarily a weekend experience, it is certainly one that will cure those Monday blues once you are back at the office. Bund Lounge, hidden within Shanghai Me, has unveiled its highly exclusive GONG Dinner Party which will surely be a novel dining experience. The speakeasy will be offering guests an exquisite Pan-Asian dinner along with vibrant live entertainment every Monday. Right as the clock strikes 9:30 in the seductively lit lounge dinner will commence. The flavorsome menu of Shanghai Me will be taking guests on a journey through the traditions of Japanese and Chinese cuisines while an array of distinctive and signature concoctions are served. Sensual yet sophisticated dance performances will mark an evening that dissolves into the decadent days of 1930s Shanghai as the sound of the Gong signals the beginning of a party.
