Ras Al Khaimah is one of the most adventurous and diverse emirates, offering everything from outdoor opportunities to some of the best luxury hotels in the region. To add to the list, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced 20 new projects, from luxury glamping to eco-friendly hotels in the wild, for those seeking that weekend thrill.
The development projects across a wide spectrum of activities will aim to highlight all three parts of the emirate’s natural landscape — mountains, beach, and desert. Among the mountain-related projects are four new staycation options, ranging from the wild to luxury; a food and beverage village, a host of outdoor activities like hiking and eco-camping, and even pop-up boutique hotels. With a solid investment of half a billion dirhams, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) aims to focus on sustainability, wellness, and adventure, through these projects.
Home to Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, RAK is promoting itself as a nature-based travel destination. Boasting endless spans of the desert, blue ocean, and jagged mountain peaks, Ras Al Khaimah is also preparing these new experiences for those who want to walk on the wild side.
Scallop Ranch at Al Hamra Marine will offer oyster and scallop diving alongside cooking experiences. Bear Grylls Explorers Camp has expanded with additional accommodation, bringing the total number of cabins to 30. Flying Arch @ Manar Mall will be a 130-meter aerial structure composed of over 1.5 million knots and around 300 km of twine, and when the wind blows it will create ever-changing shapes and colors. Moreover, Earth Hotels Altitude will be opening on the mountain providing an eco-based pop-up hotel concept that will feature 15 fully fitted accommodation units, an activation center, and a swimming pool.
While the timelines for when these projects will complete aren’t known so far, a lot of them are well underway. Here’s to looking forward to even more adventure-filled opportunities in 2021.
