After much deliberation, March 11 was confirmed as the first day of Ramadan by the moon-sighting committee, beginning the month-long period of fasting for Muslims around the world. A time of introspection and self-improvement, Ramadan also gives all who observe the rare chance to reconnect with loved ones and spend quality time with their nearest and dearest, making it all the more special.

To celebrate the onset of Ramadan 2024, millions took to Instagram to share heartfelt “Ramadan Kareem” messages with friends and family. Among them were some of the region’s most-loved celebrities, all of whom joined in on the joyous time to spread love and positivity around them.

Starting Ramadan 2024 on a sweet note, Rym Saidi and husband Wissam Breidy shared an adorable video of their daughters Bella Maria and Aya Sophia singing “Happy Ramadan” outside their school. Always ready in her most glamorous avatar, Egyptian icon Yousra marked the day by sharing a picture-perfect snapshot of herself dressed in an iftar-ready purple kaftan, and Saudi favorite Lojain Omran posted a festive video of herself dressed in a tassel-detailed ensemble under the night sky.

Another March 2024 cover star, Abrar Alothman, wished all with a picture of herself at Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque.

As for the royals of the region, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the onset of Ramadan 2024 with a scenic video of Dubai, while HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser posted a vibrant moving image of the National Museum of Qatar, and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah of Jordan shared a poster of his nation.
