The music video for A$AP Mob’s highly-acclaimed single “Raf” was released on Monday. The original track, which features A$AP Rocky, Quavo, Playboi Carti, Frank Ocean, and Lil Uzi Vert (though the latter two are noticeably absent from the new video) pays homage to Raf Simons while showcasing highly-sought after pieces from decades-old collections by the designer.
In the 2 minute and 28 second-long-clip, A$AP Rocky, Quavo, and Playboi Carti model archival pieces from past Raf Simons collections while referencing some of the Belgian designer’s most iconic fashion shows. The video starts with A$AP Rocky lighting a red road torch— imitating the model’s from the Spring 2002 Ready-to-Wear show who wore masks while carrying lit flares down the runway— wearing what else? A white, head garb and a sleeveless hoodie look from the same collection. Also referenced in the visual is the designer’s debut collection, which is translated into Quavo and Playboi Carti sashaying back and forth against a gray backdrop, looking as though they’d just walked off of Simons’ Fall 1995 Ready-to-Wear runway and onto the set of the video.
