It’s that time of the year again. As 2021 slowly comes to a close, celebrations have kicked off around the globe, and families have begun coming together for the very best month of the year. And among them is the royal family of Jordan. Just minutes ago, Queen Rania and King Abdullah II  of Jordan shared their end of year greeting with the world. The message of positivity and joy was accompanied by a never-seen-before family portrait, which also included the royal couple’s four children—Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem. Given her incredible popularity online, it comes as no surprise that the greetings were also shared on Queen Rania’s official Instagram account, @queenrania, with the message, “May the threads of happiness, hope and good health weave together your New Year #Love #Family #Jordan #LoveJO.”

An absolute white dress loyalist, Queen Rania, whose style has earned her a mass following across the globe, was seen in the portrait wearing an ivory belted number which perfectly complemented the classic white shirt of King Abdullah. While Prince Hussein, Prince Hashem and Princess Iman joined their parents in shades of blue, Princess Iman stood out in the frame in a unique maroon dress.

For Queen Rania, this year’s festive season also brought yet another chance for the royal to celebrate the crafts of Jordan. Yesterday, Her Highness shared a sweet video on her Instagram page, documenting the process behind the making of the Jordan royal family’s 2021 greeting cards. The unique tokens were created with the help of artisans all over the country, who came together to incorporate elegant embroidery patterns from traditional Jordan dresses, more commonly known as thobes. The video shows Queen Rania taking a seat alongside the artisans to discuss the process, then leads watchers down the fascinating journey of how the cards were brought to life, from ideation to swatch-sampling, hand-stitching and printing. The result: a series of stunning, colorful cards that look towards a bright future, while also honoring the rich past of Jordan. Watch it below.
