Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are set to appear on their first TV interview since stepping down from their duties as senior royals. American broadcast network CBS announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have filmed a primetime special with host, Oprah Winfrey which will be aired on March 7.

The statement from CBS reads, “Winfrey will speak with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to show how she is handling life under intense public pressure.” CBS also adds: “Later the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”

The Duchess of Sussex will sit down with Winfrey for most of the 90-minute special before being joined by the Duke of Sussex, who will share his insights. It is unsurprising for the couple to sit down to be interviewed by Winfrey as they are known to be friends with the talk show host since the early days of their relationship. Winfrey also attended the couple’s wedding in 2018 and lives close to the couple’s compound in Montecito, California. The couple moved to the United States last year with their young son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. Towards the end of 2020, Meghan also debuted as a business investor when she made a private investment in a female-founded startup that makes instant oat milk lattes. Her venture was quick to be supported by Winfrey who took to Instagram to share a video of herself making the brand’s “golden super latte”. According to the caption, the package had been gifted to her by Meghan. “On the first day of Christmas, my neighbor “M” sent to me…a basket of deliciousness!” Winfrey wrote. Clarifying that “M” does in fact refer to Meghan Markle, she added: “(Yes that M👑)”.

The year 2021 is off to an excellent start for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Earlier this month, Meghan won a privacy claim against the Associated Newspapers after the Mail on Sunday printed extracts of a letter she wrote to her father in August 2018. Just yesterday, February 15, the couple announced that they were expecting their second child, who will be the younger sibling to their one-year-old son Archie.
