As restrictions across the UAE continue to be gradually lifted, Dubai’s Municipality has now given health clubs, gyms, resorts, and residential establishments the green light to reopen their pools. Originally a restriction that remained in place following the reopening of beaches and beach clubs, pools in Dubai can now welcome back guests, as long as guidelines set out by the Municipality are adhered to.
For residents of Dubai who are looking at yet another blistering summer, the announcement provides welcome relief. Furthermore, with new guidelines imposed on swimming facilities, an added sense of safety can be enjoyed by all. In a document outlining specific measures that must be undertaken, the Dubai Municipality has instructed pool operators across the city to undertake a deep clean pre-opening and continually test the contents of their pool-water once they have opened to the public.
Beyond the rules applicable to pool-operating establishments, the document also outlines a number of rules applicable to guests who intend to swim. All visitors will have their temperature screened upon arrival, and swimmers must at all times maintain a distance of two meters between one another, both inside and outside the pool. In addition, group sizes are limited to no more than five people and there must be four meters of space between sun loungers for different groups.
Furthermore, all pool enthusiasts are advised to use the poolside showers before and after jumping in, in addition to bringing their own beach towel, while also being mindful of spending no longer than two hours in the pool area per visit. Other instructions require patrons to use cashless payment systems where possible and avoid the spa, sauna, and jacuzzi; all of which continue to remain closed momentarily.
