We should have known that Taylor Swift would throw her hat in the ring with a late contender for party of the year. The singer gathered friends last night to bid goodbye to the old and see in the new, while dressed as their childhood heroes.
The theme saw Swift don a flowing red wig and sequin scaled skirt to be Ariel from The Little Mermaid, complete with crab purse accessory. And she wasn’t the only one to fully commit to the dress code. Gigi Hadid and Blake Lively also took costume inspiration from favourite childhood films, with a practically perfect take on Mary Poppins and a gingham-dress Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz.
Swift shared photos from inside the star-studded party captioned with a list of the idols her guests had chosen: “Mary Poppins, Audrey, Ariel, Ms. Frizzle, Cinderella, Gwen, Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice, Rizzo, Frida Kahlo, Steve Irwin, Dorothy”, she wrote underneath a group picture. In another shot, she is seen swigging from a bottle of Aviation Gin alongside Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds.
The new year wasn’t Swift’s only reason for celebrating yesterday. The concert film for her Reputation tour landed on Netflix last night, following her birthday announcement on Twitter earlier in the month that it would soon be released in its entirety.
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! Today I finally get to show you something we’ve been working on for a while… the trailer for the Reputation Stadium Tour! The entire concert film will premiere on @Netflix at 12:01AM PT December 31. pic.twitter.com/ZL3Kx2OUx8
