Inside the 2016 DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize Gala Dinner

Last night, at the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai, a star-studded guest list celebrated the Arab world’s brightest talents at the 2016 DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize gala dinner. A-listers such as designer Zuhair Murad, Roland Mouret, Christian Louboutin, and Dana Al Khalifa enjoyed an elegant evening that kicked off with a cocktail reception. Taking in the finalists’ collections that were on showcase was Ingie Chalhoub who commented on the importance of the Fashion Prize platform. “It’s recognition by taking [the designers] to the next level and to the international stage,” she said. Meanwhile, Rozan Ahmed added, “It’s really a landmark moment for fashion in the region. It’s important that we celebrate, harness, critique, and support local talent. And I feel like the DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize do all of these things.”

After the cocktail soirée, guests made their way to candlelit tables and settled in for a dinner of tiger prawns salad, beetroot carpaccio with warm goat cheese, plancha of French seabass filet, and pumpkin ravioli with sweet mashed potato lemon grass velouté. Stephanie Horton, Chief Marketing Officer of Farfetch, reflected on the jury deliberation ahead of the winners’ announcement. “The strength of the judging panel was really good this year. I think it was an eclectic dichotomy of different disciplines and that really helped with giving constructive advice.” Before the evening came to an end, the stylish attendees made their way to and after-party near the dinner venue and mingled into the early hours.
