Born in 1942 and active between the years of 1959 and 1991, Egyptian actor Souad Hosny was one of the Arab world’s most influential actors. Ascending to stardom at the end of the 1950s, Hosny went on to perform in more than 83 films including highly acclaimed titles such as Khali Balak min Zouzou and Al-Karnak. Now returning to screens across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, fans of the late actor will be able to watch her world-renowned performances in a pop-up channel hosted by OSN between August 13 and September 4. Available to members of the Platinum & Legacy Platinum packages, the channel will be available on OSN and its streaming app and will comprise over 35 classics from the Hosny archives.

Among the channel’s lengthy list of classics, we recommend the mandatory viewing of titles such as Al Safera Aziza (1961), which tells the story of a teacher who falls in love with the sister of a butcher, Saghira Ala El-Hob (1966) about a young woman who pretends to be a 13 years old girl in order to win a role in a tv show, and Al Ikhtiar (1971), which follows a mysterious murder that takes place in Cairo.

In a statement addressing the channel, OSN’s Interim Chief Content Officer Rolla Karam said, “The launch of the Souad Hosny pop-up channel not only offers our customers a variety of content but also celebrates leading Arabic talent and cinema legends. With the growing demands of entertainment in the region and keeping in mind our users, the pop-up channel will be available across all OSN packages and our streaming service so all of our customers can tune in and enjoy unparalleled leisure options,” she said.
