After the announcement of Jeddah’s first ever mega music festival, the lineup was kept under wraps. Just today, the 36-year-old rap superstar, Nicki Minaj, has been confirmed as the headliner for Saudi Arabia’s biggest event, Jeddah World Fest, set to take place on July 18 at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium and broadcasted worldwide by MTV.
With over 100 million followers on Instagram, Nicki Minaj has released four successful albums in the past. Her latest album, Queen peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, and her first solo track of the year Megatron is also on top of the records. The former Vogue Arabia cover star has confirmed she will also have a new album releasing this year.
The event organizers are enthusiastic about millions of people around the world who will be viewing Jeddah from a different perspective. In a press conference, Raed Abuzinada, sector development chief of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and director general of Jeddah Season said, “There is a stereotype of the Kingdom all over the world, and today it is disappearing. In its place is a new picture of the Kingdom, that accepts everyone.”
The accomplished rapper will be joined on stage by renowned American DJ, Steve Aoki, and former British boyband member Liam Payne. The event will be emceed by MTV ambassador DJs R3wire and Varski.
The second round of lineup is yet to be announced, but Saudi Arabia will be making history with an event that’s not to be missed.
