American rapper and former Vogue Arabia cover star Nicki Minaj has welcomed her first child, with husband Kenneth Petty. The star shared the news via Instagram with her 123 million followers, revealing that she had given birth to a boy.
Minaj reportedly gave birth to her son on September 30, according to People, and had since kept the happy news under wraps until Thursday, October 15, when she chose to confirm it via social media. She did so by sharing the many congratulatory notes and messages she received from her renowned friends from the music and fashion industries. Her post showed letters from stars including Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Winnie Harlow and Riccardo Tisci. “Thank you to Queen B, Kim & Ye, Riccardo Tisci, Winnie, Karol & everyone who sent well wishes during this time,” Minaj captioned the post. “It meant the world to me. I am so grateful & in love with my son. Madly in love. My favorite liddo boy in the whole wide world.”
Referring to Minaj by her birth name in her note Beyoncé wrote, “Onika, Welcome to motherhood. God bless you and your family. B,” while the note from the Wests read, “Congrats! We love you!” Burberry’s chief creative officer Tisci wrote, “Dearest Nicki, Congratulations on the birth of your baby! Wishing you and your family health and happiness. With love, RT x”. In her message to Minaj, fellow former Vogue Arabia star and model Harlow wrote, “Baby Barb on Board! Congratulations sis, happy for the healthy delivery of your first bundle of joy! Sending you blessings and prayers on this new journey. Love, Winnie Harlow.”
The 37-year-old hitmaker first announced that she was pregnant in July, by sharing a series of four maternity portraits cradling her baby bump. One of them saw Minaj in a bespoke floor-length veil created by Lebanese couturier Georges Hobeika.
