After last week’s deluge of endless TV and movie offerings, I’m back with more what to watch suggestions. The good news: There’s more excellent TV coming your way. The bad: There doesn’t seem to be enough time to watch it all.
Let me start by recommending the fantastic comedy series Minx, which will air on HBO Max and stars Jake Johnson in his best role since New Girl. Set in the ‘70s, it’s about one woman’s attempt to start her own magazine that’s different from anything else on the market. You will be talking about this one for weeks to come. (Oh, and hello Taylor Zakhar Perez of The Kissing Booth fame! You’ll understand my special shout-out to him when you watch.)
Then there’s the two-night Bachelor finale. If you saw last week’s fantasy suite date episode, you know to expect the unexpected this week. Apparently spoilers are pointless this time around because Clayton still doesn’t know what’s going to happen and neither does host Jesse Palmer. We’ll find out on Tuesday on After the Final Rose.
For drama, I highly recommend Apple TV+’s WeCrashed, starring Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto (and ER alum, Anthony Edwards, who once again plays a high-profile business executive like he did in Inventing Anna). The limited series about the rise and fall of WeWork is riveting thanks to Hathaway and Leto.
And of course we have a new episode of Outlander (even better than last week’s premiere, if you ask me), an indie political satire worth checking out called The Hater, plus Amy Schumer’s new dramedy Life & Beth.

Sunday, March 13
Critics Choice Awards (The CW and TBS): Originally scheduled for January 9 but delayed due to the spread of Omicron, the Critics Choice Awards is finally here. (Full disclosure: I’m a member of the Critics Choice Association.) Co-hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer, the ceremony that honors the best in TV and film will be live from Los Angeles and London. Nominees include This Is Us, Yellowjackets, Succession, Squid Game, and more. Presenters include Jamie Dornan, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Mandy Moore, Lee Jung-jae, Mayim Bialik, Nasim Pedrad, and others. Chiara Aurelia, a nominee for her role in Freeform’s Cruel Summer, will be doing a special InstaStories takeover for Glamour as she gets ready for the awards. 7 P.M. ET/4 P.M. PT live
Outlander (Starz): In the second episode of the sixth season, Ian and Jamie are at odds over Jamie’s reluctance to pass along the Cherokee’s request for guns. Meanwhile, Roger experiences something he never thought he would see while at church. But the best storyline in this great second episode involves Fergus and Marsali, who gives birth to their fourth child. Oh, and the return of some furry friends. 9 P.M. ET/6 P.M. PT
The Presence of Love (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries): Sweeping views of the English countryside, need I say more? Oh, ok, you want a story description, too. Well, adjunct professor Joss (Eloise Mumford) travels to England to visit the farm where her late mother grew up and bonds with single father Daniel (Julian Morris), whose family now runs it. Love blooms, but also, have I mentioned the sweeping English countryside?! 9 P.M. ET/PT, 8 P.M. CT
Monday, March 14
The Bachelor (ABC): After last Tuesday’s fantasy suite episode, all bets are off in tonight’s two-hour finale (followed by tomorrow’s After the Final Rose). Are we really supposed to believe Susie is gone for good? Does Clayton propose to anyone? And why doesn’t Jesse Palmer know what happens? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. 8 P.M. ET/PT, 7 P.M. CT and streaming the next day on Hulu
The Julia Child Challenge (Food Network; discovery+): While Clayton is dealing with the aftermath of telling three women he’s in love with them, eight Julia Child super fans are competing for a three-month all-expense paid trip to famed cooking school Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Head judge Antonia Lofaso and guest judges including Molly Baz, Cliff Crooks, and Brooke Williamson will decide who wins. 9 P.M. ET/PT on Food Network and streaming the same day on discovery+.
Tuesday, March 15
The Bachelor: After the Final Rose (ABC): I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen, and I haven’t been so riveted since Peter’s mom Barb stole the show at her son’s ATFR special. 8 P.M. ET/PT, 7 P.M. CT and streaming the next day on Hulu
Mr. Mayor (NBC): The sitcom starring Ted Danson and Holly Hunter returns for a new season of antics in the Los Angeles mayor’s office. 8:30 P.M. ET/PT, 7:30 P.M. CT
Young Rock (NBC): Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s series about his life has its season premiere tonight. 8 P.M. ET/PT, 7 P.M. ET
Phoenix Rising (HBO): Per HBO, the two-part documentary follows actor, activist and domestic violence survivor Evan Rachel Wood as she lobbies for passage of the Phoenix Act, legislation that extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases in California. 9 P.M. ET/PT and part two airs Wednesday, March 16 at the same time. Both episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max on March 15.
Thursday, March 17
Minx (HBO Max): Don’t miss this fantastic new comedy series set in the ‘70s starring New Girl’s Jake Johnson as an endearing low-rent porn magazine publisher who teams with a feminist (Ophelia Lovibond) to create the first erotic magazine for women. The series is created by Ellen Rapoport; Paul Feig is an executive producer. Lennon Parham, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and Michael Angarano also star. This is the new comedy you’re going to be talking about each week, trust me. Two episodes debut each week through April 14.
Single Drunk Female (Freeform): It’s already time for the season finale in which Brit’s jitters on her wedding day lead her to make an unexpected decision. Also, Carol and Bob take their relationship to a new level, and Sam learns the truth about James. 10:30 P.M. ET/PT, 9:30 P.M. CT
DMZ (HBO Max): Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt star in the limited series based on the DC graphic novel of the same name that focuses on a woman who navigates a demilitarized zone in a quest to find her missing son. Four episodes now streaming
Friday, March 18
WeCrashed (Apple TV+): Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway stun as Adam Neumann, the founder of WeWork, and his wife, Rebekah Neumann, in the story based on the hit Wondery podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork.” According to Apple TV+, “WeCrashed is inspired by actual events—and the love story at the center of it all.” And even if you have no interest in WeWork as a whole, you’ll be fascinated by Leto and Hathaway’s performances. The first three episodes are available today, followed by weekly installments each Friday through April 22.
The Hater (in theaters and VOD): Just watch the trailer below and tell me you’re not intrigued by this sharp political comedy that follows a liberal environmentalist (Joey Ally), who returns to her conservative Texas hometown after losing her job on a U.S. Senate campaign. Once Dorothy (Ally) finds out that her childhood nemesis (played by Ian Harding) is running for office in the state legislature, she decides to run as well to force a Democratic victory. Starring Joey Ally, Bruce Dern, Ian Harding, Ali Larter, Nora Dunn, and D’Angelo Lacy. In select theaters and on demand.
Life & Beth (Hulu): Amy Schumer is back as the star and executive producer of Life & Beth, a dramedy about trauma, love, and moving forward. Michael Cera, Laura Benanti, Michael Rapaport, and more also star. All 10 episodes streaming on Hulu.
The Outfit (Focus Features): Mark Rylance and Zoey Deutch star in this mob thriller about an expert tailor trying to outmaneuver a group of mobsters. Also, there’s gorgeous costumes. In theaters
Is it Cake? (Netflix): Cake artists create replicas of cheeseburgers, handbags, and more that you won’t believe are real. The baking contest was inspired by a popular meme and is hosted by Mikey Day. Streaming
Master (Prime Video): Regina Hall stars as Gail Bishop, the new dean of students at an elite New England university that has a haunted past and present. Streaming.
