Days after announcing its debut homeware collection that includes bold chairs, scented candles, wallpapers, and foldable tables, Gucci – the luxury Italian brand helmed by Alessandro Michele – revealed further plans to expand its premium empire. On Tuesday, Gucci unveiled Gucci Places, a unique and innovative travel platform to be launched in September.

The tool will give users a substantive look into the brand’s rich history, by allowing them to explore locations around the globe that have inspired previous Gucci collections, traversing the brand’s 96-year history. Users will also have access to in-depth descriptions, exclusive imagery and videos, and invitations to special events in and around the locations. In addition, fans and travelers alike can “check in” to these sites via the app’s geo-locational feature, which notifies you when you are in the proximity of a Gucci Place.

The first location chosen by Gucci is Chatsworth House, the English estate in Derbyshire where the brand shot its 2017 Cruise collection and which is currently hosting an exhibition of clothing and memorabilia titled “House Style.” The great British stately home is a regular for Vogue magazine shoots and featured in the May issue of Vogue Arabia.

The launch of the inaugural location coincides with an exclusive capsule collection, highlighting Michele’s efforts to combine his deep knowledge of and passion for art history with an understanding of how the average millennial consumer shops and travels. By looping in clients to associate travel and culture with Gucci’s illustrious way, guess what? You’ll want the iPhone cover, Dionysus bag, and Princetown loafers to wear on your long-haul flight.
