Contemporary art is now available via Net-A-Porter thanks to a partnership with fine e-commerce platform ap8.art, which kicks off on May 2.

The first drop is a series of 10 framed photographs by French artist and fashion photographer Guy Bourdin (1928-1991), each of which will retail at £1450. The photographer had a long relationship with Vogue and shot campaigns for Chanel, Charles Jourdan – who became his patron – and Bloomingdale’s. His work is collected by art institutions including the Tate in London, the MoMa, and the Getty Museum.

Inspired by literature, cinema, and culture, Bourdin’s work has a mysterious storytelling quality to it, often bordering on the provocative and this limited-edition collection offers fewer than 100 units of each piece. “When Net-A-Porter approached ap8.art to reimagine what collecting art could look like, I knew we had to distill all that makes art covetable and collectible,” comments Viola Raikhel, curator and co-founder of ap8.art. “Ap8.art is changing the game in terms of art collecting and Net-A-Porter is the perfect partner to highlight the ever-strengthening ties between art and fashion.”

Each artwork is digitally verified by ap8.art through an innovative technique of stenographic cryptography, which is imperceivable to the human eye but detectable by digital scanning. The artworks include a certification code registered to the purchaser providing a record of provenance and value.
