This is the Heartwarming Reason Why Nadine Nassib Chose to Shave Her Head

From choppy bangs to a chic bob, Nadine Nassib Njeim has sported many trendy hairstyles in the past. But on June 4, the Lebanese actress surprised her fans by sharing a video showing her shaved head. Njeim stars in the series Khamsa w Nos (Five and a Half) and as a part of the plot had to sport a shaved head for its last episode. Instead of masking her hair with a bald cap as most actors would, the former Miss Lebanon chose to cut her long hair in solidarity with young cancer patients.

The actress took to Instagram to share a video clip from the show’s episode with a heartfelt message. In the video, Njeim can be seen getting her hair cut after which she leaves the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) with a shaved head. She then passes by the young cancer patients, smiling at them and greeting them. In the caption, Njeim thanks St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Tennessee affiliated with CCCL.

“It’s true that beauty is important, and we all wish to always look beautiful, but too often we forget that beauty comes from within,” she says in the video. “Yes, I let go of my hair, but the question is, what changed? Nothing, I am still the same person.”

In the show Khamsa w Nos, Njeim plays the role of Dr. Bayan Necmettin opposite Syrian actor Kosia Khauli who plays the role of her husband, Ghamr.
