The announcement was made by Mohamed Al Hashemi Country Manager at Majid Al Futtaim at the Cinema Build KSA conference. Held by the General Commission for Audiovisual Media and joined by 30 speakers from around the world, the conference is the first of its kind to discuss investment opportunities in the field of cinema.
Speaking to Vogue.me about the new Vox cinema Al Hashemi said, “It will be a different experience to watch films. It does not appear as a cinema, it is a luxurious dining experience with screen displays, and it is the first of its kind in the Middle East to open in Saudi Arabia.”
“In the Kingdom, 30 million people are different in taste, some of them want a different cinematic experience and some want to buy cheaper tickets, and every product we offer at Vox has certain customers,” he added.
The first Vox Cinemas in Saudi Arabia was only the second one ever in the country when it opened in May 2018 at the Riyadh Park Mall. According to Al Hashemi, the next destination for another Vox Cinemas is Dammam, in eastern Saudi Arabia. The company aims to launch 600 screens across the country over the next five years.
