Palestinian real-estate mogul Mohamed Hadid is contributing to a new cookbook titled Craving Palestine, which is a “tribute and a love letter to Palestine.”

Food is one of the strongest means of connecting with your roots and very few celebrate this connection with as much pride as the former Vogue Man Arabia cover star. Frequently taking to Instagram to share photos, videos, and recipes of home-cooked Palestinian meals, the father of five’s contribution to the cookbook and passion for cooking fits right in with the rest of the community’s. This includes US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, best selling poets, authors Naomi Shihab Nye, Lisa Majaj, Susan Abulhawa, Nathalie Handal, composers Trio Joubran as well as recipe dedications in memory of Palestinian literary giants Edward Said and Mahmoud Darwish, to name a few.

While Hadid hasn’t revealed which recipes he has shared in the book, a post shared on Craving Palestine‘s Instagram page says that they are two family recipes from the hands of his late mother Khairia Daher. If Hadid’s homemade brunch and dinner spreads for daughters Gigi and Bella are anything to go by, these two dishes are sure to be the favorites of many.

Ahead of the launch of the cookbook, Hadid revealed a video from his trip to Bethlehem, Palestine last year with renowned chef Fadi Kattan. The video shows Hadid making the trip alongside his daughter Alana and making their way through the markets of Bethlehem, interacting with the people, tasting local produce as they go, and finally cooking a traditional dish themselves. For my kids and grandkids and the unborn to remember and know their roots and our homeland,” Hadid captioned the video. He recently became a grandfather once again when his daughter Gigi gave birth to her daughter with boyfriend and British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik.
