With air travel so uncertain in today’s time, and possibly the near future, one way to escape from the bustling city is by road trip. Enter, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS which checks all the boxes for a safe, yet fun and plush experience. Dubbed the “S-Class of SUVs,” the car is Mercedes-Benz‘s largest and most luxurious SUV, offering more space, comfort, and luxury than its predecessor.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the new GLS is its interior spaciousness, which gives way to three fully electrically adjustable seat rows. The second row, in particular, is the most spacious out of the three as it offers more legroom, while the seats in the third row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space — an essential for packing your road trip supplies.
The GLS is a true Mercedes-Benz automobile, in that it is imbued with luxury in ways that may otherwise be overlooked. Highlights include: Two 11.6-inch touchscreens for movies, music, and internet; a separate tablet for controlling all of the comfort and entertainment functions from the rear seats; electrically adjustable seats; and an easy-entry function, which makes it easy to get into and out of the third seat row. What’s more: all rear seats swiftly fold down at the push of a button, there are two full-fledged seats in the third row (for people up to 1.94m tall), heated seats and separate USB charging ports for both the second and third rows, and also five-zone automatic climate control. One of the handiest new features is the carwash function, which enables the car to be prepared for entry into a carwash with a single press of a button.

“The new GLS is the S-Class of premium SUVs. It embodies luxury, confidence, and intelligence like almost no other vehicle,” states Ola Källenius, the member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for corporate research and development.
On the exterior, the car is designed to exude confidence and style, both on and off the road. With a wheelbase longer than that of its predecessor, the GLS cuts a striking figure with harmonious proportions. “The GLS combines modern luxury with the character of an off-roader,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG. “Powerful highlights of the off-road design idiom combine with an elegance reminiscent of a classic luxury saloon. The interior is a synthesis of modern, luxurious aesthetics, hallmark SUV practicality, and digital high-tech. In our view, the new GLS, therefore, offers the best of all these worlds.”
