Meghan Markle‘s 38th birthday may be August 4, but Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has already started planning the festivities for the big day.
According to a source in The Mirror, the Queen has reportedly invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as well as newborn Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to spend the day at her family estate in Balmoral. This will be Markle’s first time visiting the Queen’s vacation home, which is said to be her favorite among her residences.
The day’s activities will include an afternoon tea with Queen Elizabeth and a specially prepared birthday cake in the evening. She’ll also be gifting the family their own wing in the estate, so they can have extra privacy during their stay.
The invitation is an important signifier of Markle’s place as a fixture of the royal family, particularly given the historic nature of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s marriage. Markle is only the second American and the first person of biracial descent to marry into the British royal family. The weekend away from home will also be newborn Archie’s first official royal trip.
Meghan spent her last birthday attending Prince Harry’s friend Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding celebration. He wed Daisy Jenks in Frensham, in England, about an hour and a half from Kensington Palace. We expect a quiet weekend with the Queen will certainly be a welcome difference for the new mum!
