Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s biographies have received a major update on the royal family’s official website.
About four years after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family, its official website is seeing a major upgrade when it comes to their biographies. Royal.uk, which is the authorized site for information and updates on all members of the British royal family, has now merged the bios of the couple into one page under the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Previously, Prince Harry and Meghan held separate pages on the website. The joint page can now be found at the bottom of The Royal Family tab, after those of other members including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, and the Duke of York aka Prince Andrew.
The page is topped by a statement regarding the couple’s decision to step back as senior royals. “As announced in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family. The couple married in St George’s Chapel, Windsor on 19 May 2018 and have two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex,” the statement reads, referring to their four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter. This is followed by the biographies of the couple under the headings ‘About the Duke of Sussex’ and ‘About the Duchess of Sussex’. It lists career highlights like Prince Harry co-founding the Sentebale charity, launching the Invictus Games, and Meghan’s acting work in Suits, her lifestyle blog The Tig, and patronage of Smart Works, Mayhew, and more.
The changes were brought to attention by the royal family fan blog Gert’s Royals, which also noted that the couple previously had longer biographies on the website, with Prince Harry’s profile carrying the heading ‘Supporting the Monarch’. It’s safe to say that the update is, in fact, recent as it mentioned the couple’s own new website: “Information about the current work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be found on their official website: Sussex.com.” The website was launched in February this year and marks the couple’s return to sharing updates about their philanthropic and social endeavors via a public platform.
It features links to their nonprofit Archewell Foundation and for-profit Archewell Productions. “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is shaping the future through business and philanthropy,” reads the About section on the website. “This includes: the Archewell Foundation, Archewell Productions, patronages, ventures, and organizations which receive the support of the couple, individually and/or together.” The home page showcases a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle smiling as they applaud at the 2023 Invictus Games. It is the same portrait that was used for the couple’s 2023 Christmas card.
The website was also followed by the relaunch of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes on all platforms, as well as her return to Instagram via her brand new lifestyle account, American Riveria Orchard.
