Hoping to send a gift to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s newborn baby girl Lili? Having just welcomed their second child Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple knows that the little one is cause for celebration and presents. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a request for you.
“For those inquiring on sending gifts, we would ask that you support or learn more about these organizations working for women and girls: Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED, or Myna Mahila Foundation,” a statement on the Archewell website reads. The couple are now on “parental leave,” according to the website.
It’s no wonder, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a long history of altruism and charitable work. They have remained dedicated to this since stepping back from their roles as senior royals. “As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role,” a rep said in a statement back in February 2021. “We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 am in Santa Barbara, California, just in time for Father’s Day. She is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.
The Duke and Duchess also issued a statement of thanks on their website, writing, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
The news of their second pregnancy was announced back in February through a portrait taken by photographer Misan Harriman. Later, and during their historic March interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple shared that they were expecting a daughter.
Their two-year-old first child and baby Lili’s brother, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, 2019. According to sources, Archie is excited to welcome the new addition to their family, and is very happy to have a little sister.
