Meghan Markle released her highly anticipated podcast, Archetypes, on Spotify last week and its content has reportedly left the palace aides quite unhappy.
Titled ‘The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams’, the first episode of the podcast saw Markle talk about her son Archie’s brush with fire in his nursery. This, however, brought about some resentment within the royal family, according to reports. “I’m told Buckingham Palace aides were most definitely not keeping calm, nor carrying on after the show’s premiere on Tuesday, worried about what else might be shared over the next 12 weeks,” wrote Omid Scobie, royal executive editor, in a piece on Yahoo! on Wednesday.
According to the mother-of-two, Archie’s nanny Lauren had brought the toddler to get a snack and found out the nursery’s heater was on fire as they returned. “Archie was supposed to be sleeping in there,” Markle said, explaining to her guest Serena Williams how terrified and shaken she and Harry were after the incident, and yet were expected to carry on with their schedule as planned. She added, “I think, optically, the focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels.”

Reportedly, the 40-year-old’s revelation didn’t sit well with the royal household. “Two aides have already pushed back on Meghan’s ‘precise recollection’ of events in South Africa,” Scobie wrote. “One told a tabloid that it was a smoking heater, not a fire (does it matter?), and another claimed it is ‘unfair’ to share such stories when the Royal Household cannot comment.”
Scobie added, “This is the reality that the royal institution helped create. Once silenced by the establishment, it’s clear that Meghan finally has her voice back. A voice that will be very familiar to those who followed her before Harry. This time, however, she’s brought an entire movement alongside it.”
