It’s been revealed that the royal couple is expecting their first child, just hours after they touched down in Australia for a royal tour. The exciting news was announced by Kensington Palace this morning. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” read the statement. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.” The exciting news comes just days after Princess Eugenie‘s royal nuptials to Jack Brooksbank on Friday at Windsor Castle, in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in attendance. The baby will be cousins to Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to all be “delighted for the couple”. A senior palace source told The Mirror: “Everyone is hugely excited about the news. The whole of the family are very happy they were all able to congratulate the couple in person before they left for their first major overseas tour.” The duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, has also issued a statement, revealing she is “very happy about this lovely news” and “looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild”.
The Duchess of Sussex sparked speculation when she touched down in Sydney, Australia, on Monday, shielding her stomach with two purple binders. For many royal watchers, the gesture further fueled the rumor mill, which first went into overdrive when the royal arrived to Princess Eugenie’s wedding wearing a loose, Givenchy coat, which she didn’t remove for the entire duration of the ceremony. The news of the pregnancy comes just five months after the couple tied the knot in a royal ceremony at Windsor Castle on May 19. Mabrouk!
