Margot Robbie‘s next feature production may well be in the works, as the actor will reportedly create the movie adaption of the cult-favorite computer game The Sims. The film will be backed by LuckyChap, the production company run by the Barbie star, Josey McNamara, Sophia Kerr, and Tom Ackerley, together with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Stepping up as director is Kate Herron, who has previously helmed the hit Marvel series Loki. Herron will also be co-writing the screenplay with Briony Redman, after having previously teamed up for Doctor Who.

For the uninitiated, The Sims is one of the most popular games to come out of the 2000s, by renowned publisher Electronic Arts (EA). It quickly achieved cult-favorite status with players of ages ranging from teens to young adults, who are known to invest hours at a time in creating a virtual life for their characters. The simulation computer game allows players to choose everything from their character’s appearance, to their career, and relationships, as they go about life in a suburban neighborhood. Since its release in 2000, the game has released various versions and expansion packs that help add to the gaming experience.

Given Barbie‘s success in seamlessly blending the make-believe and real worlds, it makes sense that an adaption of The Sims would be next on Robbie’s radar as producer. Just as Mattel was involved in Barbie, EA will also look after the film in a creative and producing capacity. While not much is not known about the project yet, fans of the actor and the game will be awaiting the casting announcement, to see whether Robbie will star in the film.
