Luxury has a new home in Saudi Arabia as the iconic Al Faisaliah Hotel unveils its rebrand as Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh.
Located in the city center, this five-star hotel combines the region’s cultural history with Mandarin Oriental’s signature prestige. Tihany Design led the transformation, updating the hotel’s guest rooms, suites, lobby, meeting rooms, and three large atriums. The new look features lavish finishes and bright colors, giving the hotel a unique character that reflects its surroundings and the style of the Mandarin Oriental brand.
Upon entering the hotel, guests are welcomed by a spacious lobby with natural stone floors and deep blue accents. The stone flooring extends around a reception area, where floor-to-ceiling glass panels reflect the shimmering effect of a desert oasis. The space is finished with curved glass panels and bronze shelves, offering a stylish and welcoming atmosphere. Beyond the lobby, the hotel’s distinct atriums serve as focal points, each highlighting art installations that reflect Saudi culture. Atrium 1 features a spiral sculpture inspired by calligraphy from a local poet, while Atrium 3 celebrates Saudi Arabia’s national bird, the falcon, with a dynamic piece. Atrium 2 honors the region’s glass-making tradition with an intricate lantern display inspired by the souks.
Complementing this rich cultural experience is a signature fan designed by Princess Nourah Al Faisal that captures Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural past. Representing the Kingdom’s 13 provinces, the fan features local materials, including desert diamonds, blending traditional elements with modern design. This fan embodies the spirit of Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh, where history intersects with luxury.
Guest rooms and suites have been redesigned to emphasize the beauty of Saudi Arabia with purple, gold, and blue colors. Various textures and shapes mix with bronze accents and polished furniture to create a lavish yet comfortable atmosphere. In the Presidential Suite, deep reds and sculptural details stand out, complemented by decorative chandeliers and marble designs. The Royal Suite, the largest accommodation, features celadon green and gold tones, creating a sense of luxury with custom Venetian glass sculptures.
